Éva Risztov Returns as a Champion—and as a Debrecener
If there is a great return, this is it. If there is great returner, Éva Risztov is it. After three and a half years’ break, the highly successul swimmer—three-times World Championship and four-times European Championship silver medalist and several-times European Short Course Champion who also won fourth-place at the 2004 Olympic Games—returned to competition, and last weekend she became the national champion in the Balaton Cross Bay Swim which was, at the same time, the Hungarian National Long Course Championship. In the absolute category she reached third place after two male swimmers with a very good result.
24-year-old Éva Risztov has been practising at the Debrecen Sport Centre for four months now with the help of Tamás Vajda, head of section at DSC-SS who used to be the coach of World and European Championship medalist Rita Kovács.
